Joe Vassallo is a freelance Avid editor who has worked in a wide array of editorial situations on the various Avid systems for the past twelve years. He also edits on Final Cut Pro. He has received an EMMY nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Editing for AMC’s EMMY Award winning show, “Behind The Screen with John Burke.” This led to projects for IFC, BRAVO and WE. He continues editing unique independent feature films such as, “Hook, Line and Sinker” and most recently, “Taffy Was Born,” as well as a short film, “Perceptions.” He has established special relationships with many of the top post facilities in NYC, among them SONY Music Studios, where he has become the A-list freelancer. He has also worked extensively for HBO and Cinemax, editing segments such as "The Buzz" and "Final Cut" and promos for The Sopranos, In Treatment, Entourage, Big Love, HBO Boxing and Hard Knocks. Other projects he has edited include a field segment for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, NARM 2005 Presentation, Jeff Buckley “Grace Live” DVD, Roger Waters' Ca Ira Live Performance, Aerosmith’s Live DVD, DVD Documentary for Mandy Moore’s EPIC Records release “Coverage,” as well as promos for Sony Music TV & Radio to name a few. He has also done color correction for projects such as the hit reality television show, “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." Joe’s prestigious client list includes HBO, Disney, NBC, ABC, CBS, MTV, VH-1, USA, Comedy Central, A & E, True TV, Oxygen &Trio. Joe also has an extensive background in music as a songwriter/vocalist, which gives him a keen sensibility for sound/music editing, dialogue replacement and audio mixing, as well as an instinct for pacing and timing crucial to project flow. His reputation among industry colleagues is that of an editor who will go the distance for a project, as if it were his own.
