Craig Weiseman
Craig Weiseman is a NY/LA based film editor who’s dedication to the craft of editing began when he spliced his first 16mm reversal short film in 1996. His passion for the art of storytelling and his dedication to the collaborative process has only intensified with his technical understanding and experience. Starting out as an assistant editor in Los Angeles, he earned an opportunity to edit on the award-winning CBS drama, Without A Trace, during its first and second seasons. After relocating to New York City, he cut the independent film Jellysmoke (director, Mark Banning), which won a Prism Award, and Best Picture at the 2005 Los Angeles Film Festival, and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in 2006 (http://www.jellysmoke.com/).
Craig’s next editing project, the independent narrative feature, Superheroes (director, Alan Brown), garnered multiple awards at festivals worldwide, including Best Feature at the 2007 Avignon/NY Film Festival, the Maverick Spirit Award at the 2008 Cinequest Film Festival, and Best Film at the Brooklyn Arts International Film Festival. It is currently airing on iFC OnDemand. Craig recently finished cutting his first comic feature, Action News 5 (director, Eric Pham), which was shot in Orlando, FL and cut in Austin, Texas and is currently still in post.
In addition to his work in feature narratives, Craig has also edited reality programming for the Style Network, The History Channel and WE, the Women's Entertainment Channel. And, has cut corporate videos for clients such as Nordstrom, and the Jones Apparel Group, with whom he has an on-going relationship. In 2007, he was in-house editor for the award-winning design, production and motion graphics boutique UVphactory in New York, where he cut music videos, corporate sizzle reels, and promotional material.
Additionally, Craig has lent his talents pro bono to the Afghan Women’s Council and Afghan Hands, both non-profit organizations committed to social change and education through artistic endeavors. He recently returned from Kampala, Uganda, where he was an Editing Mentor at Mira Nair’s Maisha Filmlab. During this 26-day intensive workshop, Craig had the opportunity to teach his craft to East Africa’s next generation of cinema storytellers.
