Carlos Almonte

Carlos Almonte is an Emmy-nominated, bi-lingual (english/spanish) editor and motion graphic artist from Brooklyn NY. After graduating SVA, Carlos founded a production and post facility in Williamsburg before going freelance in 2003. Since then clients include Showtime Networks, where he edits long and short form programs, interstitial, HD, and On Demand content. He helped create and implement edit-room templates and in 2007 was nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Broadband Variety category for a series of web spots promoting Showtime's hit 'Dexter'. He is also the lead animatic editor for Nickelodeon's 'Go! Diego Go!' and more recently 'Dora, the Explorer'. Carlos was also in on the ground level for ESPN's 'Mobile ESPN', creating internal pieces during the venture's infancy. Also in 2007, Carlos edited a 5-part documentary web series for ourchart.com 'My Address: A Look At Gay Youth Homelessness' starring Kate Moenning (from the hit series L Word). When released, it received more hits than anything else on the site consistently during its 5-week run. A unified version was submitted to Sundance later in the year. As a motion graphic artist, Carlos edited, designed, and animated the title sequence for heavy metal band Killswitch Engage's first DVD release 'From the Bedroom to the Basement' by Roadrunner Records. As a heavy metal drummer for 15 years, it was a perfect fit. He has also produced countless animations for broadcast including opens, endpages, lower thirds, and one-offs for use in sales meetings, corporate presentations, and the web. His latest motion graphic endeavor was a spec spot 'Go Sketch Yourself' which showcases his high standard, attention to detail, and proficiency in all things After Effects. Carlos is also a NYS certified instructor at the New York Film Academy, instructing students in the aesthetic of editing while laying a technical foundation in Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and DVD studio Pro.
